If you are trying to cut calories, you can also order this sugar-free or with the espresso of your choice (decaf or blonde). You can also get the drink in a hot version, but the iced is where it’s at. In case you missed it and scrolled straight to this option (totally cool). The whole drink is topped with the signature caramel crosshatch to complete the fun. Unsurprisingly, the Iced Cinnamon Cloud Macchiato features the same amount of caffeine as its caramel counterpart. The cloud foam is lightly flavored with vanilla, which blends well with the espresso. The texture is creamy and absolutely melts in your mouth. It’s then topped with a cloudy layer of cold foam created by whipping a powdered egg white substance into the milk to create a cross between a divinity marshmallow frosting and whipped cream. The iced version of this drink starts with an espresso base (one to three shots, depending on the size you order) poured over ice. (For a Grande size, 16 ounces, it is 3 pumps of syrup. We were able to attend a sneak preview to try them and tell you if they’re really worth ordering. The unmodified Iced Caramel Macchiato is built like this: A barista adds vanilla syrup to the cup. The Caramel Cloud Macchiato ($5-$6) and the Cinnamon Cloud Macchiato ($5-$6) will be available in stores starting March 5 and will become permanent additions to the menu. The newest drinks Starbucks has on offer for spring are like nothing we’ve ever ever seen before. The drink is available hot or iced in either cinnamon or caramel flavor, but the basic premise is the same either way. Starbucks is marketing the Cloud Macchiato as an iced drink, but interestingly, you can also order it hot.
